Charook Ma Ro Fastnacht – Hand-Painted Leather Shoes, Carnival Motif

The motif is borrowed from carnival and painted individually onto the finished shoe: figures with mask and instrument on the outer side, scattered flecks of colour across cap and heel. The shoe itself is a regular Charook slip-on in white goat leather with a lamb-leather lining and a hand-stitched buffalo-leather sole — wearable well beyond the three days of carnival. Since every pair is made by hand, each motif is a one-off.

Material

The shoe is 100 % leather: a buffalo-leather outsole, a lamb-leather lining and a goat-leather outer shell. The leather is untreated and natural. Goat leather lets the feet breathe, so no bad odours build up and the foot stays cool — which is why these shoes stay comfortable over long days.

Fit and size

Natural leather stretches slightly over the first few days and moulds to your foot. We recommend your usual size; go up one if you have a high instep or a wide foot. The sole is flat and flexible — you feel the ground without giving up a protective layer of leather.

Care

Dust painted areas dry only — no solvents and no leather grease directly on the artwork. Pale leather is sensitive to wet weather; let the shoes dry at room temperature.
